 REALITY L Word?!

Just when you thought you'd heard everything -- Showtime is reviving "The L Word" -- but this time as a reality series.

Yes, you read that right.

Showtime has approved 9 episodes of "The Real L Word: Los Angeles." Executive Producers are Ilene Chaiken and reality producers Magical Elves, namely Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz ("Top Chef").

The show will follow six lesbians in Los Angeles as they go about their lives. The show is being likened to Bravo's "Real Housewives" series of shows.

An interesting fly in the ointment: the project is dependent on casting. However, "The Real L Word" could debut sometime in 2010.

"Even though we concluded our sixth season of 'The L Word' on Showtime this past March, I believe we are not nearly finished telling our 'L Word' stories," Chaiken said. "Showtime has yet again come forward to continue with us this mission to entertain and enlighten and bring more 'L' to the world."

"We love to tell authentic stories about complex characters and feel like this is an area that has yet to be explored in reality television," Lipsitz said.

"The Real L Word" is the second spinoff for Chaiken. "The Farm," which starred "The L Word's" Leisha Hailey, wasn't picked up to series, however.

We will be keeping updating the site as more information becomes available.

Comments: After watching what Ilene Chaiken did to the storylines, the characters, and the finale of The L Word, it's surprising there are still six lesbians living in L.A. that would be willing to work with her.
