 Episode Summary

The L Word Episode 5.12 - "Loyal and True"
_______

Episode 512 - Loyal And True

Had Jenny been nicer to her first assistant, she might not have these
problems.

Previously on The L Word, stuff happened and things prepared to go insane.

Showtime presents...

A bunch of movie studio guys want Lez Girls to have their ending changed to
Jesse going back to Jim. Tina disagrees. Guys are idiots. We get it.

The L Word Theme...and love...and all that stuff. Hey, Ilene, here's a
suggestion...have other artists do the theme next year, just for fun.

Traffic jam. Bette and Tina and little Angelica and discuss a house closer
to the beach...or something. Bette practices her speech for Jodi's
thingamagig. Tina's all encouraging. Angelica knows how to say and
apparently sign, "Jodi." A big bus gets in the way and it has The Look on
it, with the two hosts and Alice. So I guess she got the job.

We pan the camera over to the hospital where Peggy Peabody is being
choppered in on a stretcher. And there's Helena!!! Well, I'm happy.

Shane takes photos with her rapey photo camera of a sleeping Molly. Shane
then wakes her up with kisses and they make out and have storytime together.

Alice makes Tasha coffee and here comes Tasha with her Cal-Mart security
tag and uniform. Cal-Mart...what could they possibly be spoofing? Tasha
doesn't have time for coffee, because these couples don't have time for
such happiness.

Hospital, with Peggy putting Helena back on the Peabody money spenders
list. Helena doesn't seem too interested at first.

Shane/Molly walk and talk and hold hands and Shane wants to go to school on
how to be a photo artist. Phyllis/Joyce wait for them. Molly meets Joyce
and doesn't want to shake her hand. Shane takes Molly aside and tries to
explain life to her. Granted, Leonard's probably right, but that's a minor
point, him being a man and such.

The Planet, with Dawn/Cindi bringing in some guy to look over the place for
a makeover. Helena arrives and gives Kit a hug. Kit and Helena talk and
go have cookies.

Shane/Molly have their breakfast with Phyllis/Joyce. Molly doesn't want to
have her Supreme Court internship, but wants to go surfing with Shane in
Honolulu. And then talk about respect.

Tasha lies down on the ground and is joined by Alice.

Kit and Helena talk with Helena's unsure if she's going to stay with Dusty
at the island. But she misses WeHo and Kit speaks for most of the sane
people in saying the place ain't the same without her. Cindi arrives and
apologizes for all that's happened to Kit. Dawn gives Cindi orders.

Alice/Tasha walk and talk and don't hold hands. Tasha quit her job. Tasha
introduces Alice to some of her friends, JJ and Karen. Karen recognizes
Alice from The Look, The Look, The Looooooooooooook! Alice never seems
interested in being with Tasha's friends. Alice signs an autograph for
Karen and leaves.

Jenny and Tina talk together about Lez Girls at the Planet and they got
distribution (those guys from the beginning of the episode). According to
Tina, Niki misses Jenny. Jenny's agents dropped her, but Tina is
encouraging.

And now, the (presumably) final scene of Lez Girls being filmed as Jesse
(Jenny) leaves Karina (Marina). Adele directs and sees Tina arrive on the
set. Sally arrives after being conferred with by Adele and takes Tina
aside. Adele wants Tina off the set, according to Sally. Tina walks over
to Adele and Adele, in her oh so cool glory dismisses Tina personally,
talking about loyalty, with Tina's loyalty to Jenny. Tina is the producer
of the movie, but Adele makes it clear that having her on set will only
delay things and put them over budget. Tina storms off and Adele just
rocks.

Helena talks with Peggy in her hospital. She talks about the perils of the
Planet. Peggy says Helena should buy it back. Helena reminds Peggy about
the whole no buying friends thing and Peggy reminds her that these friends
have been there for her, so it wouldn't be buying. Helena is the only
beneficiary and Peggy wants Helena to buy her friends a nightclub or two.
Two, you say? *evil laughter*

Alice rides with Clea the rebellious moped queen. And Clea gets a ticket
from the LAPD. This leads to Alice and Clea walking and talking and
putting their hands in their pockets. Alice doesn't like the LAPD and
Clea's disappointed that Alice has a girlfriend. Alice is disappointed to
oh for the LOVE OF GOD!!! *sigh* Alice and Clea talk about temptation,
with Clea's Amerinadistralian accent. They almost kiss. Almost! This, by
the way makes little to no sense, but who am I to argue at this point? And
they hold hands.

Bette's place as she and Tina are poolside talking. Tonight is the final
night of shooting, then the wrap party tomorrow night. Bette's going to
the Jodi thingamagig. Tina puts over Jenny's writing. And then get all
lovey dovey for a moment, then Tina puts over the ending for Lez Girls.
The ending is a positive message for young gay women...well, let's see if
we get such an ending with this show next year. Aaaand there's the kissing
and the making out and such. Bette asks about Angelica having a younger
sibling.

Alice/Tasha together at Alice's. Tasha's gonna try out for the LAPD.
Those people Alice doesn't like. There's Tasha's laugh!

Onto SheBar, where Cindi sits alone, looking unhappy. Helena arrives with
a proposition. Oh, Helena I've missed you!

Time for Jodi's thingamagig. Bete arrives and meets people. Jodi and Tom
are there. Alice/Tasha, Shane/Moly, Kit and Jenny are there, talking about
the wrap party. Max is there, with Tom. Everyone departs, with Jodi
saying nothing to Bette (on purpose). Phyllis and Shane go off to have a
Jesus Meeting.

Shane's had a bad discussion with an older woman before that ended in
heartbreak at a museum. This time, it's a little different. Shane says
she's crazy about Molly and Phyllis explains what Shane's friends say about
her. This is vital. Phyllis lectures and then urges her to break it off
with Molly. Shane is alone. Boy, is she...

Everything's dark in the museum. There's Max/Tom and everyone else. Bette
and Jodi finally exchange cordial words. Bette has no idea what this piece
is about, does she? Jodi heads off to talk to Shane. They tell each other
not to be a stranger. This place is called the Hammer. Bette gives the
big introduction speech to the piece. Bette puts over Jodi's career and
Jodi has a certain look in her eye that's downright mischevious. Bette
wlecomes Jodi to the stage. Jodi signs and Tom speeks. This piece is
called, "Core." It's all about love and honesty and commitment. Uh oh.
It's some strange video piece with recorded speech and it is all about
Bette. Now, I won't get into how Jodi was able to record Bette's voice or
how she was able to put the audio portion together, unless she had Tom's
help or something. But this is really embarrassing for Bette and while
Jodi's possibly over the line with her vengeance...gotta admit, it's pretty
funny in that careful what you wish for kinda way.

SheBar at night as Dawn/Cindi see Helena arrive. Helena's not alone though
as she has friends. Dawn introduces herself to Helena and here come those
friends. Shane/Molly and Jenny and Alice/Tasha are there. Dawn wants them
gone and here comes Kit. Kit and Helena reveal that they're the new owners
of SheBar (and possibly the Planet) as they've bought out Dawn's primary
investors. Cindi leaves Dawn and her name is Cindi Tucker. So there! And
she's with Helena, so they go dance. Dawn says it's not over and I feel as
if this should be followed up with a rawwr and a rant about how Americans
are stupid if they don't elect certain people this Fall. No, wait that's
someone else.

Shane/Molly dance together and Shane sends Molly to get a drink. Shane,
being Shane decides to end things in her own way. She says hello to
someone named Vanessa and here comes Molly. Vanessa departs and that leads
to Shane and Molly breaking up, which is exactly what Shane wants, because
it's time to give up...just much sooner this time. Molly's not going to be
mean, she says Shane deserves compassion and leaves. Any hope in Shane's
life is completely abandoned.

Tina consoles Bette in bed over Jodi's Core piece.

Time for the Wrap Party for Lez Girls.

Bette/Tina and Kit arrive. Sally/Sandra arrive and they appear together.
William The Boss Boss arrives with both Adele and the Begona, the lady
playing Karina (Marina). Everyone's there at the party, including Helena.
Bette and Helena give each other a hug which would have been unimaginable
some time ago. No Molly and everyone happily dismisses it as Shane being
Shane.

Shane and Alice talk while Tasha gets drunk and hangs out with some girl.
Alice admits to meeting someone and having an attraction to her. Tasha
doesn't know and Shane knows Alice wants to. With all hope lost, Shane
becomes the Devil as Yoda's force is used for Evil. Shane does her best to
convince Alice that it's okay to break up with Tasha or at the very least,
go get laid elsewhere. That's what friends are for.

"Walk On By" by Isaac Hayes plays as Bette/Tina dance while the others sit
at the table and notice. And while it was satircal in the previous
episode, this time it feels more in tribute to the TiBetters as the Group
Of Friends agree, Bette and Tina belong together. The ladies playing
Bev/Nina (Bette/Tina) see Bette/Tina dancing together and smile. This
probably vindicates for them how things went in the movie they just filmed.
Bette/Tina makeout. Some guy is trying to dance with the Bev and Nina
girls.

Meanwhile...Niki's by herself and here comes Shane. Yellow Alert!!! Niki
bears her soul a bit to Shane and Shane, after some of the things she's
said about Niki now becomes her best friend. So we have a couple of people
who no longer care and now just want to do whatever they want to do. You
can probably guess where this is going. They toast to, "not giving a shit."

William announces on the microphone the woman who just signed a three
picture deal. Adele Channing!!! The MVP of Season 5 takes the mic and
what an evolution for this character. Begonia Garcia is Adele's love and
the star of the next film. Adele announces that Lez Girls has a
distributor. Adele puts over William, Aaron, Tina and Sam (the DP)...and
of course, Jenny. Jenny arrives and says Adele stole it. Tina starts up a
supportive round of applause for Jenny and Jenny takes the mic. Jenny does
a happy enough speech and puts over the crew and friends. While Jenny says
nice things about her friends, her best friend, Shane is making out with
Niki outside somewhere. Jenny realized this afternoon that she is madly in
love with someone and was wondering where Niki is at. So she's either in
love with Niki or with someone else, maybe Shane since she's always been
there for her no matter what.

Shane/Niki get it onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn outside. That'll earn ya cool points,
Shane...yep. Jenny walks in and sees Shane with a mouthful of Niki.

Tina is irate that Adele, William and Aaron would let the ending be changed.

Jenny walks off.

Tina is pissed, while Adele tries to explain the new ending (Jesse goes
back to Jim). But it's not about that. The Group Of Friends arrive and
aren't happy with the new ending either. Everyone looks over at Jenny
walking off and Shane giving chase and Niki not far behind.

"You've broken my heart," Jenny tells Shane. That cues up the Dionne
Warwick version of, "Walk On By."

And that's Season 5.

Yes...THAT'S how the Season ends.

Alright...one more Season after this and it's the Finale. And it'll be
eight episodes. Let's hope they can end things on a positive note, 'cause
they've got a lot of cleanup to do.

A big thanks as always to Jacky and L-Word.com for letting me do this once
again. We'll see what happens next year. For now, I need a drink.
