The second season opens with Tina rebuffing Bette's attempts at reconciliation while Jenny prepares for an emotional farewell with Tim.

Summary by Stacy Turner

New Opening Sequence

As the episode begins we see a fairly close up shot of Tina’s face. While Tina is talking about her relationship with Bette, scenes flash on the screen of Bette and Candace in bed together having sex. Tina starts to undress and tells her doctor that she doesn’t want to tell Bette that she is pregnant until she knows that everything is ok with the baby. Tina turns around and it is revealed that she is very pregnant. We also find out that she has not told anyone about her pregnancy yet.
Bette is laying in bed moving around, it’s becomes apparent that she is being pleasured by someone. Bette lifts up the sheets and Candace appears and kisses her. Candace notices that Bette is really distant and asks her what’s wrong, to which Bette doesn’t respond. She simply glances to the side with a look of regret in her eyes.

Alice and Shane are at the Planet. We see Alice working on her new knitting assignment for L.A. Magazine. Alice tries to get Shane to talk about Cherie Jaffe but Shane tells her that she hasn’t changed because of that. As they are talking Tonya walks in and waves at them. She goes over to the counter and Alice pretends to be in a serious conversation with Shane so that Tonya wont try and talk to them. Tonya doesn’t seem to notice and comes over and sits down with them anyways. She asks if they heard about Marina, and the two listen intently as Tonya tells them about how Marina tried to kill herself.

Dana shows up at the Planet sweaty from her workout. It looks like she is about to leave when she sees the back of Alice’s head, but Tonya spots her and calls her over. Dana and Alice glance at each other as the group discusses Bette’s infidelity. When Alice reveals that Bette is still sleeping with Candace, Tonya tells the group that Bette needs to stop thinking with her “pecker” to which Shane tries to get the group to stop discussing it because Tina is standing behind them.

Jenny and Gene are at an outdoor market. While Gene is talking about mushrooms, Jenny becomes distracted by other women. Gene notices her staring at women and becomes irritated. When Jenny goes up to one of the stands and the girl behind it tells her to smell the produce, Gene gets upset and asks the two girls if they want to have sex right there, or go back to his place. Jenny apologizes for his behavior and pulls him away. He tells her that they don’t have sex anymore, and the reason is because she is a lesbian. Gene leaves and Jenny is left standing there.

Alice and Dana wind up in the bathroom of the Planet where they discuss the kiss. They banter back and forth about who kissed who first and who kissed who back. Alice asks what would happen if she kissed her again, in which Dana just stares into her eyes and bites her own bottom lip. They stare at each other’s lips and then Alice moves in and kisses Dana pushing her backwards until they hit the wall. They continue to kiss passionately. We cut to see Alice walking out of the bathroom readjusting her shirt. Dana exits the bathroom a few minutes later and sits back down at the table still wiping her mouth.

The girls are at the table discussing Shane’s new client. Tina says she has to leave and as she gets up we see Bette walk up to the table. She says that she needs to talk to Tina alone, but Tina wants everyone to stay. Bette tells Tina that she only wants to be with her and that she told Candace that she never wants to see her again. Tina tells Bette that she drove by the house at 2 AM and the car was missing, so she knew that Bette was having sex with the carpenter. In a rage Tina knocks the table over toward Bette and walks out the door.

Kit is at Ivan’s car garage. They go into his office and he tells Kit that he has a present for her. When she opens it up she finds a set of keys. One of the keys belong to his apartment and the other one belongs to her vehicle. They both go over to the window and Ivan tells Kit that he did some work on her car. She tells him that she doesn’t know how to thank him. They both start leaning in to kiss each other but Ivan stops and tells her that he doesn’t want to kiss her until she‘s really ready.

Tim is packing up his things and moving to Ohio. While he is grabbing boxes Jenny sits outside and talks with him. We find out that Jenny has a new job as a waitress and that she has to move out and find an apartment. Tim tells her that she can stay in the house until the end of the month. Jenny tells him that she really appreciates that and being able to live there for a while will help her refocus on her writing. Jenny is next shown in her room typing a story on her laptop.

Bette is sitting by the pool drinking and Tim comes up to the fence. Bette is somewhat short with him as he says his goodbyes, not realizing that he is moving away. Once she realizes that he is moving to Ohio she apologizes for her behavior. Bette tells Tim that Marina tried to kill herself and he feels sorry for her. Tim asks if Tina is around so that he can say goodbye to her, and Bette tells him she’s not there. They hug and he leaves.

Jenny opens a letter from a publishing company that informs her that they are not going to use her manuscript. She gets up and tacks it up on the wall along with numerous other letter’s similar to that one.

Shane arrives at a movie studio and is looking around trying to figure out where to go. Once she meets her client they discuss what Shane wants out of life. As Shane is getting ready to cut her client’s hair, Carmen walks in and asks Shane if she wants anything to drink. There is some flirting going on between the two before Carmen exits. Shane and her client are walking to the set and they run into Carmen. The client tells Shane to go after Carmen and don’t worry about her. Shane helps Carmen carry some equipment and when they get to the door Shane sets the stuff down and walks away. Carmen asks Shane if she wants to go inside with her and listen to some music. They wind up having sex in the DJ booth, while people are looking all over for Shane.

Bette is with a young man that is trying to get some artwork shown at a museum. Bette is obviously irritated and takes it out on the guy. James walks in with a note telling her that Candace is on the phone, and she tells him to tell her never to call again.

Jenny is at her waitress job when Robin walks in. Jenny excuses herself from her customer’s and walks over to Robin. Robin tells Jenny that she just wanted to make sure that she was ok. She realizes that Jenny doesn’t know about Marina’s suicide attempt and tells her.

Dana and Tonya are walking down the street looking for registry gifts for their wedding. Alice calls Dana while she is working on her knitting assignment in a group of other people. She tells Dana that they need to talk and they agree to meet the next day.

Bette is eating Chinese food with Kit and they discuss Tina. Kit tells Bette that she wants to talk to Tina and Bette agrees that it would be ok. The topic quickly changes to Kit’s business plans to keep the Planet open. Bette agrees to cosign the lease, but can’t fork over the $50,000 for the down payment. Kit tells her that she might make Ivan a business partner. Bette tells her that’s a bad idea because Ivan might think that Kit wants more than a professional relationship with him.

Jenny is laying down on a bed and Robin is taking care of her. It seems as if Jenny may have fainted shortly after hearing the news about Marina. As Robin is taking care of her she asks Jenny how her apartment hunting is going. Jenny tells her that she hasn’t found a place yet, and Robin suggests that she move in with her. Jenny declines the offer.

Alice and Bette are at the Planet. Alice asks Bette if she could leave the house for a few hours so that Tina could get some stuff. Bette tells Alice that Tina emotionally detached herself 3 months prior to her cheating. Alice made a point that it was 3 months out of 7 years and she could have waited a little longer for her. Alice and Bette end up getting in an argument and Bette storms out of the Planet.

Kit goes to Ivan’s apartment. He doesn’t answer the buzzer so she let’s herself in. When she opens the door to the apartment she hears loud music and walks around trying to find him. She walks by his room and Ivan walks out of the bathroom in boxers and no top on. He freaks out and pushes Kit out of the room and tells her to leave his apartment.

Alice and Dana try and figure out what is going on between them as they are jogging. They admit that they are attracted to each other and decide that they have to come up with rules of unattraction. These rules include the fact that they can never be alone together, especially in places where there is a bed, couch, floor, table, or the backseat of a car. Alice tells Dana that she can’t show up at the Planet after she has just worked out, because she finds Dana attractive when she is all sweaty and her veins are popping out. Dana is surprised that she likes that since Tonya hates it. Dana tells Alice that she can’t wear shirts that “cling to some places, and fall off others.”

Tina goes to her house to pick up some clothes and when she goes into the bedroom Bette is there. Bette tells Tina that she wants to fix everything, but Tina tells her to go blow off steam with her carpenter. Tina leaves the house and Bette screams out her name.

Shane goes to Milk and sees Carmen and another girl sitting in front of her .Shane goes to the other girl and Carmen comes over to talk to Shane. Shane tells her that she didn’t think that she was going to see her and that she just wanted to have a good time. Carmen leaves upset and Shane begins to kiss the other girl she is with.

Jenny is sleeping in her bed and Tim comes up behind her and starts to remove his clothes. He climbs under the covers and wakes Jenny up. They start to have sex but after a few minutes Tim stops and climbs out of bed and leaves.

Bette is at home and the sound of a tea kettle goes off. Bette accidentally grabs the kettle and curses as she burns her hand. She grabs a dish towel and grabs the kettle and pours tea. She walks over to her window and looks over at Jenny’s house. Jenny is staring right back at Bette with the same look of sorrow on her face.
