Jenny moves to L.A. with Eric and meets her neighbors Bette and Tina, as well as the lesbian couple's circle of friends - including Marina, a cafe owner whose pass at Jenny awakens doubts about her path in life. Summary by Allyson Heisey Tim prepares his home for the arrival of his girlfriend, Tina tells Bette that she's ovulating and one gets the impression that Tina wants to spend the morning in bed, but Bette pulls away citing work as an excuse. Before leaving for work, Bette drops off Tina at 'The Planet' which is where the tightly knit group of friends convene to share breakfast and gossip. Tim picks up his girlfriend from the airport and takes her on a brief tour of LA. Later, Bette meets Tina at what appears to be a therapists office. It's not clear what they're there for. Might be to discuss starting a family or to discuss problems within their relationship. I suspect the latter because from their conversation I could tell that there was a lot of tension under the surface. Tina and Bette have been together for about seven years and the relationship seems to be at a crossroad. They still love each other deeply, but the fire and passion seems to have died out. Tina knows it and Bette knows it, but Bette seems to be more concerned with work than putting work into the relationship. Tim's girlfriend, Jenny, is delighted with her new place. Bette and Tina retrieve sperm from a mutual friend only to find out that he's practically sterile when the doctor evaluates the sample in her office. Shane, a single woman and a bit on the butch side, brings a girlfriend to Bette and Tina's house for a swim where they make love in the water. The entire scene was inadverdently witnessed by their neighbor, Tim's girlfriend. You could tell that Jenny found the entire sex scene fascinating. At the doctors office Bette, with the doctor's encouragement, tries to 'relax' Tina prior to the insemination which is later abondoned since their mutual friends sperm was inactive. Everyone meets later at the 'Planet' where we find out a bit more about the characters. Bette and Tina host a party in the hopes of finding another sperm donor. Bette's half sister, Kit, a performer and an alcoholic was escorted to Bette's home by the police after being pulled over for DWI. At Bette and Tina's party, Jenny meets Marina, the owner of The Planet, and is irrivocatively drawn to her. She also witnesses Shane making out with a different girl. When Jenny goes into the bathroom, Marina follows her and kisses her. At first Jenny recipricates, but then panics and flees the house leaving her bewildered boyfriend behind. Finding a sperm donor at the party was a bust for Bette and Tina. Overcoming her initial fear, Jenny meets up with Marina at the Planet as and meets the gang. The gang senses the attraction between Marina and Jenny. Jenny attempts to tell Marina that she's straight but never really makes it clear. They meet again later in the week at The Planet during a special event. Once again, Jenny panics and leaves in a hurry. The next week she meets Marina at a poetry reading and this time she doesn't get cold feet. Bette and Tina interview a sperm donor candidate, but turn him down when he insists on having sex with Tina to fulfull his 'obligation'. The entire exchange was funny but not to Tina. That night Bette leaves work early to spend a romantic evening with Tina, but Tina, still upset, choses to go to the gym instead. At the gym, one of the female instructors comes on to Tina but she rebuffs her advances and quickly leaves for home and to Bette. While out with her boyfriend for dinner, Marina shows up and Jenny tells her that she'd like to see her more. They make plans for dinner later in the week. While in a therapy session, Bette informs Tina that she found the perfect donor. When the donor arrives the next morning, Tina is shocked. The man is not only very tall but black as well. Tina isn't sure how to react and lashes out at Bette when they meet up later. Bette, part black herself, is hurt by Tina's accusations and rejection of her own heritage. Bette forgives Tina and at the Art Show Tina meets a charming young man. Bette and Tina agree to try to use him, but when he pulls out a condom and Bette tells him not to use it, he realizes what's going on and leaves. After their dinner date, Marina kisses Jenny and next thing we know, they're in bed having hot steamy sex. The next morning Jenny is guilt ridden but doesn't tell Tim where she was or what happened. Bette and Tina, now having moved past the block in the crossroad, discover passion again and make love, something they hadn't done in a very long time. Leanne Adachi... Gay Girl Marianne Faithful...
